Early Career and Promising Debut
Under the guidance of trainer Rachel Halden, the offspring of Mendelssohn and Empire Lady made her track debut last July in a six-furlong sprint on the E.P. Taylor turf. Despite a challenging start, positioned tenth at the halfway mark, Dakotah Blue displayed remarkable late speed, ultimately securing a fifth-place finish, trailing the victor by a mere 2 3/4 lengths. Halden expressed satisfaction with this initial effort, noting the filly's inherent athleticism and tenacious spirit.

Following her impressive debut, Dakotah Blue faced a temporary halt in her racing career due to a minor injury. After a period of recuperation, she made a triumphant return to the track on May 3, clinching her maiden victory by 1 1/4 lengths over six furlongs on the Woodbine main track. Halden commended the filly's dedication during her recovery, noting that her performance in the race mirrored her excellent training sessions.
Recent Performance and Future Prospects
The filly's most recent outing saw her achieve a hard-fought fourth-place finish over 7 1/2 furlongs on the same course on June 6. Trailing by a significant 13 lengths at the halfway point, Dakotah Blue launched a powerful rally in the stretch, narrowing the gap to just 1 1/4 lengths behind the winner. Halden viewed this as a commendable effort, particularly considering an unfavorable outside post position. She believes the extended distance of the Ontario Colleen will be advantageous for Dakotah Blue, who consistently demonstrates a strong finishing kick.
