Her most recent triumph was a dominant 2 1/4-length win in the 5 1/2-furlong Monmouth County on July 5 at Monmouth Park. The Midshipman chestnut initially broke her maiden on Gulfstream Park’s main track last June before successfully transitioning to turf in the five-furlong Colleen at Monmouth that same July.

After a four-month hiatus, Gerrards Cross returned with a couple of less-than-stellar performances on dirt at Tampa Bay Downs. O’Connell shared her positive outlook, stating, "Each race this year, she appears to be elevating her performance. I recognize the heightened competition here, but she’s in excellent condition." She added, "Currently, she excels on turf, but we might consider a dirt race if the opportunity arises, especially if a race is moved off the turf."

Gerrards Cross descends from the stakes-winning Concerto mare Spanish Concert, a mare O’Connell also trained through a significant portion of her impressive 31-start career, which included a win in Tampa’s Minaret in 2017. O’Connell also trained all four of the filly’s half-siblings, including the multiple stakes-placed Dream Concert, and winners Spanish Noble and Princess Norma. The trainer remarked, "I trained her dam and several of her siblings; they were all truly pleasant horses to be around. Both she and her mother share a strong will and possess considerable natural speed."
