Kentucky Senator Spirits Honors Champion Racehorse Nitrogen with Exclusive Legacy Bourbon Series

Kentucky Senator Spirits proudly introduces its new Thoroughbred Legacy Series, with the initial offering paying tribute to the distinguished racehorse, Nitrogen. This exclusive, single-barrel bourbon, aged nine years and boasting 113 proof, is a testament to the filly's extraordinary achievements on the track, where she accumulated more than $3 million in earnings and secured numerous graded stakes victories. The collection serves as a unique celebration of the bond between Kentucky's revered horse racing heritage and its renowned bourbon industry, providing a distinctive way to honor significant figures in the equestrian world.

Kentucky Senator Spirits Unveils Inaugural Thoroughbred Legacy Series Bourbon Honoring Champion Filly Nitrogen

On October 7, 2026, Kentucky Senator Spirits, a company co-founded by equine attorney Andre Regard and former Kentucky Senate majority floor leader Damon Thayer, officially announced the first release in its highly anticipated Thoroughbred Legacy Series. This special edition bourbon is dedicated to D.J. Stable's champion filly, Nitrogen, an acclaimed four-year-old daughter of Medaglia d'Oro. The 113-proof, nine-year-old private single-barrel bourbon was meticulously selected and bottled by Potter Jane Distilling Co. in Springfield, Kentucky.

Nitrogen, famed for her exceptional racing prowess, is currently favored to triumph in the Breeders' Cup Distaff on October 31 at Keeneland. Her illustrious career includes nine wins from eighteen starts, with earnings exceeding $3 million. Notably, her victories span both dirt and turf, featuring a dominant 12 3/4-length win in the Ogden Phipps Stakes (G1) and last year's Alabama (G1) against Kentucky Oaks (G1) winner Good Cheer. She also secured a commendable second place behind Horse of the Year, Sovereignty, in this year's Whitney Stakes (G1).

According to trainer Mark Casse, Nitrogen possessed an unparalleled spirit from her early training, inspiring her distinctive name. Jon Green, General Manager of D.J. Stable, which bred the filly and confirmed her participation in races next year, expressed that the Legacy Series bourbon ensures her remarkable legacy will be celebrated for years to come. Each legacy bottle, not available for public purchase, is a personalized tribute. It features the honoree's biography on the back label, alongside a custom design. For the Nitrogen bottle, the 113 proof level corresponds to her highest career Beyer Speed Figure at the time of production, her image graces the front, and D.J. Stable's maroon silks with white diamonds are prominently displayed on the back. This series offers industry professionals a distinctive means to commemorate their cherished horses, farms, or other equine figures, creating bespoke gifts for associates, friends, or family, all while promoting the essence of the bottle's subject.

The creation of the Thoroughbred Legacy Series by Kentucky Senator Spirits represents a sophisticated fusion of two of Kentucky's most cherished traditions: horse racing and bourbon distilling. This initiative not only honors the athletic achievements of remarkable equines like Nitrogen but also elevates the appreciation for the craftsmanship involved in producing fine spirits. It underscores the profound cultural significance of these industries within Kentucky, fostering a sense of pride and continuity. This bespoke approach to commemoration sets a new standard for recognizing excellence, bridging past accomplishments with future celebrations, and creating tangible legacies that resonate deeply within the racing community and beyond.
