Maccabi Tel Aviv Fortifies Backcourt with Keaton Wallace Signing
Maccabi Rapyd Tel Aviv has officially secured the services of American guard Keaton Wallace, finalizing a two-year agreement that bolsters Coach Oded Kattash's backcourt. This strategic acquisition marks a pivotal step for Maccabi as they aim to enhance their competitive edge in the EuroLeague. Wallace, at 27 years old, brings a dynamic skill set developed over two seasons in the NBA with the Atlanta Hawks and a more prominent role in the G League.
During his tenure with the Atlanta Hawks in the 2025-26 season, Wallace contributed an average of 3.5 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 1.8 assists across 53 games, playing approximately 10.1 minutes per contest. His shooting efficiency from the field stood at 39.8%, with an impressive 37.3% from beyond the arc. Over his entire 84-game NBA career, including eight starts, he maintained averages of 4.2 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists, hitting 35.3% of his three-point attempts.
While his NBA minutes were limited, Wallace showcased his full potential in the G League. Playing for the College Park Skyhawks, he posted robust averages of 16.1 points, 6.3 assists, and 5.1 rebounds per game last season, alongside a 38.5% three-point shooting percentage. This experience suggests he is prepared for a more significant role, aligning with Maccabi’s expectations.
Maccabi's offseason has been characterized by substantial roster adjustments, particularly in the guard positions. Notable departures include Tamir Blatt, who led the team with 5.2 assists per game in the EuroLeague last season, and Lonnie Walker IV, who was the team's leading scorer. To compensate for these exits and strengthen the squad, Maccabi has also brought in other talents such as Bonzie Colson, Yam Madar, Daniel Theis, and Armando Bacot, signaling a clear intent to rebuild and improve.
Wallace's signing is expected to inject crucial ball-handling, reliable perimeter shooting, and defensive intensity into Maccabi's lineup. Coming off a season where they finished 12th in the EuroLeague standings with an 18-20 record, the team is looking to Wallace to be a key component in their resurgence. His proven ability to create offensive opportunities for himself and his teammates, coupled with his scoring prowess, makes him a valuable addition as Maccabi prepares for the challenges of the upcoming season.
