Inaugural Racing Weekend: A Glimpse into the Future of Belmont Park
Belmont Park's grand unveiling is scheduled for Friday, September 18, 2026, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the historic track. The day's racing highlight will be the prestigious Grade 1, $1 million Jockey Club Gold Cup. Excitement is already building, with global equestrian sensation Forever Young confirming participation, aiming for a spot in the Breeders' Cup Classic.
Tailored Ticketing Options for Every Racing Enthusiast
Kevin Quinn, NYRA's Vice President of Sales and Hospitality, emphasized the diverse range of admission and seating choices. These options are designed to cater to various preferences and budgets, whether fans are seeking an economical day out, a convenient multi-visit pass, or an exclusive race-day experience.
Exclusive Access for the Opening Day Celebration
A limited release of general admission tickets for the September 18 program will become available this Thursday at 10 a.m. EDT via NewBelmont.com. Each ticket, priced at $50, includes complimentary food and beverages, along with a commemorative program. All proceeds from this special day will support the NYRA Foundation, benefiting horse racing-related non-profits and charities across New York State.
Weekend and Subsequent General Admission Details
For Saturday, September 19, and Sunday, September 20, general admission will be set at $10, also including a commemorative program. Starting Friday, September 25, admission will align with Saratoga's pricing model: $7 for advance purchases and $10 on the day, both with a complimentary program.
Capacity Management Amidst Ongoing Development
Due to ongoing construction, the venue will operate at a reduced capacity of 6,000 during the opening weekend (September 18-20) and 4,000 from September 25 onwards. Capacity will gradually increase as additional sections of the facility become accessible.
What General Admission Entails
General admission during the fall meet grants access to various areas, including grandstand seats on most days (excluding specific high-demand dates), the first floor of the grandstand, and outdoor spaces like the backyard, paddock viewing areas, and the apron.
Cost-Saving Season Pass Opportunities
Fans can take advantage of several season pass options for significant savings. The Fall Meet Pass, priced at $185, covers 45 race days, equating to approximately $4 per day. The Fall Weekender Pass, at $99, provides access to 24 weekend days from September 19 to December 6. Additionally, the Superfecta Flex Pass for $20 allows selection of four race days at any point during the meet.
Premium Seating and Enhanced Experiences
For an elevated experience, reserved trackside grandstand seating will be available on six key dates (September 19, 20, 26; October 3, 24, 31) for $50, which includes a $25 credit for food and beverages. Full-season packages, luxury hospitality suites, and group discounts are also detailed on NewBelmont.com/Tickets. Fans can explore the venue virtually using the new Belmont Park Virtual Venue tool.
The Grandstand's Initial Opening Phases and New Amenities
Initially, only the first two floors of the grandstand will be open, with the remaining floors expected to be completed by early 2027. The reopening will introduce new bars, concession stands, and premium dining and hospitality areas.
Expanded Fall Meet: A Season Packed with Premier Racing
The consolidation of NYRA's downstate racing operations at Belmont leads to an expanded fall meet featuring 32 graded events among 72 stakes races, boasting a total purse of $17.7 million. The season, highlighted by major Saturday race days through Cigar Mile day, concludes on December 6.
Blockbuster Saturdays and Breeders' Cup Qualifiers
The first half of the fall meet is structured around two consecutive blockbuster Saturdays, September 26 and October 3, which will include ten graded stakes races and six Breeders' Cup 'Win and You're In' opportunities.
Daily Schedule and Advance Purchase Recommendation
Admission gates will open daily at 11 a.m., with first post times varying: 1:30 p.m. on Friday, September 18; 12:05 p.m. on Saturdays; and 1:10 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Attendees are highly encouraged to purchase tickets and parking in advance.
