TJ Warren Joins Paris Basketball for 2026-27 Season
Paris Basketball has announced the acquisition of seasoned NBA forward TJ Warren, bringing his talents to the team for the 2026-27 EuroLeague campaign. The 32-year-old, who previously spent two seasons with the Westchester Knicks in the NBA G League, is set to become one of the most accomplished former NBA players to join the French squad as they embark on their third EuroLeague journey. This strategic move aims to fortify the team's offensive prowess and inject valuable experience into its roster.
Warren's professional journey spans 11 seasons and 385 NBA appearances, including stints with prominent franchises like the Phoenix Suns, Indiana Pacers, Brooklyn Nets, and Minnesota Timberwolves, alongside multiple assignments in the G League. His impressive NBA career statistics include averages of 14.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.2 assists across 26.9 minutes per game, maintaining a remarkable 50.5% field-goal efficiency. Notably, his standout season with the Indiana Pacers in 2019-20 saw him average 19.8 points, showcasing his exceptional scoring ability with 53.6% shooting from the field and 40.3% from beyond the arc over 67 starts, solidifying his reputation as one of the league's most effective offensive forwards.
However, the latter part of Warren's NBA tenure was impacted by injuries, limiting him to just four games in the 2020-21 season and sidelining him entirely for the 2021-22 season. He made a return in 2022-23, playing 42 games for Brooklyn and Phoenix, where he averaged 7.5 points, followed by 11 appearances for Minnesota during the 2023-24 season. Following his NBA journey, Warren revitalized his career in the G League with the Westchester Knicks, earning All-NBA G League Third Team honors in 2025.
Paris Basketball is optimistic that Warren's scoring expertise will seamlessly translate to the European basketball scene. This move is crucial as the club continues to rebuild its roster, especially after finishing 16th in its inaugural EuroLeague season with a 15-23 record, missing both the playoffs and play-in rounds after a 5-5 performance in its final 10 regular-season games. The team's offense heavily relied on Nadir Hifi, who led with 18.9 points and 3.8 assists in 37 EuroLeague games, and Justin Robinson, who contributed 14.6 points and 4.5 assists before his departure to Barcelona this offseason, creating a significant void in scoring and playmaking.
Warren's addition is expected to partially fill this offensive gap. His reputation as an efficient mid-range scorer who can produce without dominating possessions, reflected in his career 50.5% field-goal percentage, coupled with his versatility to play both forward positions, will provide Paris with crucial lineup flexibility. The club has also made other roster adjustments this offseason, including the arrivals of Terry Tarpey and Maozinha Pereira, while seeing the departures of head coach Julius Thomas, Robinson, and veteran forward Derek Willis. Warren represents the highest-profile addition of the summer, bringing unparalleled NBA experience to the current roster.
Warren's arrival signifies Paris Basketball's commitment to enhancing its competitiveness in the EuroLeague. By integrating a player with his scoring talent and extensive NBA background, the team aims to improve upon its previous season's performance and establish a stronger presence in European basketball. His ability to contribute efficiently and adapt to various roles on the court will be instrumental in the team's strategic offensive plans.
